The fact that the United States did or did not do something in a completely different place and time has absolutely no bearing on what Putin is currently doing in Ukraine.
Furthermore, Equating what Putin is doing in Ukraine to what the US did in Afghanistan and Iraq is a complete false equivalency. The situations, circumstances, morality, and goals could not be more different.

Address the arguments, not the person. The subject of your sentence should be "the evidence" or "this source" or some other noun directly related to the topic of conversation. "You" statements are suspect.

I'd be interested to hear how you believe this is a false equivalency.

Iraq had nothing to do with the September 11th attacks by al qaida members and their affiliates.

Well, there Iraq attacked Kuwait
Without more elaboration, this is neither on-topic nor sourced. If you can bring some sources and argument for how the two are related or comparable, besides the truism that other countries have also been in military conflicts, that would be sufficient.
conjecturing about possible political assassinations
The comment you're referring to draws directly from Putin's speech, which is the subject of this article, and provides additional context and interpretation concerning statements made in that speech. Therefore, it's both on-topic and substantive.
You don't want me to talk bad about the US...
As the linked guidelines state, we welcome all political opinion so long as they comply with our four commenting rules. Furthermore, I already stated that the issue was not a concern of substance but one of being off-topic : nowhere in the article were US/Middle East actions mentioned so bringing it up is not relevant to this particular discussion.
The issue isn't substance, the issue is being off-topic as what the US has done in the middle east isn't relevant to this story about Russia's military operations in Ukraine.
I'd say a comparison to the US's previous actions is certainly more than a "bare expression of opinion" since it shows just how such global adventures weaken a nation's diplomatic reach.
If mods don't think that's substantive then I don't know what to say.
Completely agree here. He did lay it on thick but that's just how he talks. There's a thousand horrible things he's done and said and this is on the milder side to be honest.

I’m no fan of Trump, but if you fail to recognize your opponents strengths, you will underestimate them and loose. Putin is not an idiot and he is absolutely savvy when it comes to being a dictator and expanding borders.

It'd be a lot easier for the US to claim the high ground here if we hadn't spent a decade overthrowing and occupying middle eastern countries.

The new boss wanted to kill the case [for whatever reason]; and when the new elected boss wants to kill it; you can go public about disagreement, or you quietly resign. They resigned because that sent a message that the position the boss took is not acceptable.
Edited for Source and Comment:
Bruce Green, a law professor and chair of the Louis Stein Center for Law and Ethics at Fordham Law School, said the resignations are a sign that Bragg has decided not to move ahead with any charges against the Trumps...
“If they were going to do a prosecution of these folks they would be sticking around to help,” Green said. “The fact that they quit in a public way suggests they wanted the case to go forward and the DA decided not to seek an indictment against Trump or his family.”
